Is Gymshark worth the hype?

If you're reading this post, chances are you have been sucked into the world of Gymshark by their beautiful athletes, and from seeing everyone on Instagram rocking these insane high-waisted leggings that somehow make every booty look incredible. Well, I'm here to give my honest thoughts and opinions on whether Gymshark is 100% worth the hype.

Spoiler alert - yes it is. If that's all you wanted to know, then there's your answer. There are some things in their collection that I think are better than others, and some ranges that are definitely much more suited to specific figures and workout styles however.
For me, the best range is the Seamless range - which has lots of mini collections within it (Camo Seamless, Energy Seamless, & Vital Seamless). We don't need to discuss how many pairs of leggings I have (ok, fine, I have 11 pairs of Seamless leggings), but I honestly feel like they have all been worth it. They come up super high waisted, and the waistband is extra thick so it really does such in that lower belly. Some of the seamless range have the booty contour and the contour down the front of the legs which makes them so flattering. I don't know what it is about the fabric of the Seamless leggings, but they really cling on to your skin and pump up the booty, which we all know I need.

The Camo Seamless range is my particular favourite, the sports bra is gorgeous with its cross-over front, although a little revealing so if that's not your thing then perhaps avoid this range and opt for the Energy Seamless.

Another of the collections that I fell head over heels for was the High Waisted Flex range, which is the one I'm wearing above. I'd always been keen on the original Flex, but they are super low waisted and that is just not for me, so when they bought out the high waisted version I was straight on it! I have the grey and pink matching set, and I love it. In comparison to the Seamless range, the leggings don't quite have the same thick waistband, but it is still relatively hefty and sucks in the lower tum a little. The booty contour on the High Waisted Flex is much more obvious than on the Seamless, so if you aren't a fan of this then you probably won't be keen on this style. The matching sports bra in the High Waisted Flex range is super cute, but not necessarily the best for those with larger breasts due to the thinner band on the back.

My newest love from Gymshark is their Colourblock range, and if you haven't seen or heard of this yet you need to go and check it out. It's not the best for sculpting the bum, but the sets are just damn sexy. I bought the black, red and white colourway, and it has a super supportive top and extra high-waisted leggings that are totally squat proof. The material is more "silky" (definitely not the right word...buttery?) than the Seamless and Flex leggings, and don't have the same compression feel so are a little more comfy to wear for a longer period of time. If you prefer your more traditional material of gym leggings then these are probably best for you. The bra is also good if you do a lot of HIIT workouts as it has relatively thick straps so provides a decent medium to high support.

I have tried out a couple of pieces from the Flawless Knit range, but honestly I didn't get on very well with the leggings. I found that both the orange and the black pair were pretty see-through, and for someone who does two booty days a week I really need leggings that are squat proof. No one wants leggings that they can only wear on cardio day or upper body day. Some people haven't reported this issue so I'm not sure if each pair varies, but there also seems to be a ridiculous trend of people not wearing underwear with their leggings, so maybe people are doing that with this style *gags*. Which reminds me, I want to write a blog post about that and all the reasons why you should wear pants in the gym...

In terms of "sweat-proof-ness", if I am totally honest, every single pair that I own except for the black seamless, the camo seamless and the new Colourblock leggings I have in the black and red colourway all show sweat. I suppose it depends on how much you sweat but I tend to get a sweaty arse when I train so naturally that is going to come through to the leggings. It's not something that particularly bothers me as it's just a sign of a good workout, but it's something to bare in mind if you are a little self-conscious of these things.

Overall, Gymshark is 100% worth the hype and worth the money, but just like every other brand there are some things that are a bit hit or miss. The three ranges I would recommend the most are the Camo/Energy Seamless, High-Waisted Flex and the Colourbock range. The quality of these is always incredible. I know this post has been mainly about their leggings, so if you're interested in a part two with tops etc then let me know!

  1. Great post! I'm glad that you think Gymshark is worth the hype - I have also been putting off purchasing it in case it wasn't as good as everyone else said. Thanks for sharing!
