May Favourites 2014

Where the beep has May gone? I feel like it was only yesterday I was filming my April Favourites but hey ho! Unfortunately I couldn't film my Favourites this month due to revision and exams but I thought I would chuck everything into a post for you.

On the makeup front I have really been loving my Kate Moss for Rimmel Lipstick in the shade 08 which is a gorgeous pinky nude. I tend to go more for pink toned nudes than browns as they just suit me better. The formulation of all the Kate Moss lipsticks are just lovely, and this one in particular is so creamy to apply. Next up is the Benefit Porefessional. This is defiantly a staple piece in all beauty bloggers collections, I feel. Its just the most perfect primer and it leaves me with a super soft base for my foundation, covering up my pores. It does have a very silicone like feel to it but I weirdly love this. I tend to use it on nights out, and when I rock in at 5am my face makeup still looks good - you can't complain. Lastly on the makeup front is my MAC PaintPot in Soft Ochre. Its just a perfect cream nude base for eye shadows, and it neutralises my eyelids making the colours I apply more vivid. It prevents creasing a little and definitely makes my eyeshadow stay on way longer than it used to.

In terms of haircare there hasn't been an awful lot different this month but I will give a shoutout to my favourite shampoo and conditioner combo; The Dove Hair Therapy Intensive Repair Shampoo and the Dove Hair Therapy Nourishing Oil Care Conditioner. My hair is super dry and just generally gross at the moment so the intensive repair shampoo has really been making my hair look more healthy and the conditioner has made it super silky and shiny. If you have dyed your hair a lot or have super damaged hair I would really pick up the Shampoo and Conditioner especially, I really can see the difference in my hair and they're super cheap! Secondly, I have really been loving the volumised hair look this month and since I have very thin hair its a hard look to achieve. I found this VO5 Dry Texturising Spray at the back of my haircare stash and started giving it a go, just spraying it into the roots and giving it a little rub. It works a treat my friends, my hair looks so much more volumised and thick when I use this and it was only like £2!

Lastly the random bits and bobs! Theres only really two favourites I have to go in this category and the first one is a new show I have been watching called Orphan Black. Its basically a show about a woman who watches another woman commit suicide and she steals her identity, only to find there are a few shocking secrets. I don't really want to say any more because it will completely spoil the whole show for you if I do, but its hilarious, serious and gripping all at the same time. For anyone who watches it already; how brilliant is Helena please...favourite character by miles. The last random favourite is an app that I am sure you are all familiar with, Depop. If you aren't familiar with it, its basically a site where you can sell unwanted clothes/makeup/items. I have found some serious bargains on there and have also managed to clear a few unwanted items out of my wardrobe that I would never have worn again. Its all free but Depop do take a small cut out of the profit you make on any sales.

What have you been loving this month? I love getting recommendations so please drop me a comment!

ASOS Wishlist #2

Unsurprisingly I always find myself online window shopping when I am supposed to be revising, and ASOS is usually my target. I put together a list of things I have had in my "NEED" folder in my Bookmarks and thought I would share!

1. ASOS Please Sir PLATFORMS
Truly a fan of ugly shoes these are perfect for moi. I can only wear heeled shoes where the heel is soft (if that makes any sense at all), and I get so much wear out of my black New Look boots I thought it would be a good idea to get some with a more Spring/Summer coloring to them - hence the white. These could be paired with jeans or a dress so super versatile!

2. Whistles Medium Clutch Bag
Who doesn't love a good Whistles Clutch eh? This super cute orange colour would go perfectly with my cream dress that I have bought for Prom and I am seriously considering buying this clutch. Slightly pricey, but its good quality and I know I would use it more than once.

3. New Look Double Layer Shift Dress
For some reason I am loving white dresses at the moment, and I love the crochet detailing on this one. Its around £35 which is super reasonable and I think this would be lovely for parties and cocktails of course.

4. ASOS Dress in Summer Daisy Print
Daisy prints seem to be everywhere on the high street this season and I bloody love it. They remind me of primary school and making daisy chains which lets be honest were the easiest days of our lives. I adore wearing floaty smock style dresses when it is hot because then there are no sweaty areas (sounds gross but we all get it)

5. ASOS Kimono in Lace and Fringing
I always feel Kimonos are overpriced, but they are just so pretty and I like having that extra layer even if its thin. This one just looks so Chic and has a slightly boho feel to it. If I was going to a festival I think I would have snatched this up already...

That's it for my ASOS Wishlist! There are so many other bits I have been loving on ASOS but these are the ones I want the most!

Are there any items that you are loving?

Models Own Hyper Gel

These "Gel Effect" nail polishes are the newest release from Models Own. Although they were released a good few months ago, I only just got my hands on one. I chose Pink Veneer which is a super cute baby pink colour but it isn't too pale.

I wish I was impressed by the formula of the polish but I really wasn't.
I painted my nails 2 and a half hours before I went to bed, and they still weren't dry. I woke up to sheet prints and scrapes in the polish which was horrible. With such a love for the Barry M Gelly polishes I really thought that these would be similar, with a thick texture and a very opaque but shiny finish - I could not have been more wrong. Perhaps I just chose the wrong colour, but it took 3 coats for it to become opaque, and the shine wasn't even that great.
Enough with the negativity. The colour selection is lovely however, and I do adore the regular Models Own polishes, so I shall be sticking to them and my Barry M Gellys from now on.

I would love to know if you guys did get on with the Hyper Gel formula so please do let me know!

Also, again I apologise for the lack of posts! I am studying for my A2 exams - please bare with me!

Dove Hair Therapy Nourishing Oil Care

My hair recently has been super brittle and dry which is obviously not how it should be or indeed how I want it. I figured I should probably change up my shampoo and conditioner and see if that made a difference at all - and it did.

The Dove Hair range was on offer in Boots, and I picked up the shampoo and conditioner from the Nourishing Oil Care range, which are specifically for dry and 'frizz prone' hair, which is exactly what my hair is. How it got like this, I don't know, but the shampoo and conditioner seems to be fixing it. My hair feels so nourished and silky now and so much less dry and damaged.

They retail for around £2.69 each which really is not bad for hair care products which can be ridiculously expensive. Personally, I think they have been the best combo that I have ever tried, and I have tried my fair share of higher end hair products.

I would really recommend this for people with damaged hair, from heat or from dying it, it really helped mine. Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy the rest of the long weekend!

Revlon Colourstay Longwear Nail Enamel

Who knew Revlon did Gel-Like polishes?! Why did no one inform me about these!

I was wandering in Superdrug and came across a Revlon nail stand with all of these Colourstay Longwear Nail Enamel polishes on...which I had never ever heard of. I picked up the colour Rich Raspberry which is a super cute pink toned purple, very spring/summer.

The formula is not as thick or shiny as the Barry M Gelly polishes, but I still love this formula. It is so easy to apply as the brush is very wide, similar to the Essie brush. It only took two swipes to cover my whole nail.
The coloring was fairly opaque, but it did take two coats to achieve the colour shown.

At £7.99 they are a little bit on the pricey side, but I do really love the formula and brush on these polishes. I may have to pick some more up...oops!

Have you ever heard of these or tried them?
