Laser hair removal: Is it worth it?

If you were to ask me the best beauty treatments I've ever had done and what I'd recommend, laser hair removal would be my number one answer.

Laser hair removal is something that I've wanted since I was, no joke, about 11 years old. I've always been super hairy, down to my brown people genes, and it's been something I've been super self conscious about after having people comment on my hairy arms and tash.

So many of you have popped me DM's on Instagram when I have posted stories about going to my laser sessions, asking me questions about my experience, so I thought I'd pop all the FAQ's in one place

#ad A Budget Stay in Kensington | Point A Hotels

A budget stay in Kensington?! I know, I hear you, I didn't think such a thing existed either, but Point A Hotels have well and truly proved me wrong.

Last weekend, they kindly gifted me a stay at their Kensington hotel and I was honestly so impressed. I am not a hotel snob, normally me and Andy stay at a Travelodge or a Premier Inn, so trying out another budget hotel chain was right up my street.

We book hotels in London probably four times a year, not living together has many disadvantages so it is nice to actually get to spend some quality time together once in a while. London is always a good middle ground for both of us, with Andy living in Essex and me living in Surrey, but both of us commuting into London for work.

Morphe 35B review | look & swatches

If you've been around here for a long time you'll know that I used to have a slightly unhealthy obsession with buying makeup. Pretty much 25% of my student loan definitely went on unnecessary makeup purchases, but it was my biggest passion at the time. For quite a while makeup was on the backburner and I really enjoyed creating fashion content, but now makeup has won it's way back to 1st place. With the fashion/beauty battle going on in my heart (wow that sounded dramatic), I hadn't made any new eyeshadow palette purchases in quite some time, until the Morphe 35B palette caught my eye with its bold and bright colours.

If you're here, chances are you were thinking of buying this palette and wanted to see what someone else thought of it and what the pigmentation is really like. Well, short answer is that it is a great palette with pretty good pigmentation, but as with all palettes there are some colours which are lacking a little. Stay tuned for all the swatches!

A healthy pot noodle you say... | gifted

Yup, you heard correctly, a healthy pot noodle is now on the market. I've never actually had a "real" pot-noodle, but I was so intrigued by Mr Lee's after meeting with the brand at the Holland & Barrett press day. The story behind the brand is what really got me, and I was desperate to try these noodles after speaking with their PR. They very kindly sent me these to review, and i've really been enjoying having them as an easy office lunch for the past week and a bit.

Ok, so I know you're al intrigued by how these can be 'healthy', I hear you, so let me rewind to the story behind the brand. Mr Lee's was created by a man named Damien, who was told by doctors that he had weeks left to live after being diagnosed with Cancer. Whilst receiving his treatment, all he craved was his favourite instant noodles, but he knew that they were full of crap and essentially wouldn't help him fight his battle. So that was when Mr Lee's noodles were born.

Let's all stop pretending cellulite isn't normal.

I am so done with seeing ads and marketing campaigns for products that will "get rid of your cellulite". Where has this concept come from that cellulite is something "bad", something that we shouldn't want to have? Everyone has it, it's not to do with the size we are or how fit we are - you'll often see lots of fitness influencers with the most insanely fit bodies talking about their cellulite, so why are we demonising it?

Ethique: planet-friendly beauty bars | gifted

Is anyone else feeling really guilty about their habits, particularly when it comes to their plastic consumption? Well recently I went along to the Holland & Barrett Press Day and learnt about all the new sustainable brands they are introducing into their stores, and since then I have been feeling incredibly awful about the amount of plastic waste I am generating on a day-to-day basis (through completely preventable things).

I was lucky enough to meet a brand called Ethique whilst I was at the press day, and they have helped me to eliminate some plastic from my life through their incredible, innovative products.

I was drawn in by the fact that they are a zero-waste brand, meaning even the packaging that the product comes in is biodegradable and compostable. But after a bit of research I learnt so many more good things about the brand such as they only use plant-based ingredients like coconut oil and cocoa butter in their products, and the best thing - they don't test on animals.

5 Days in Dubrovnik

As a big Game of Thrones fan Dubrovnik was very high on my list of places to go, mainly so I could recreate Cersei's walk of shame *just kidding - or am I...?*.  It definitely lived up to my expectations, so I thought I would put together a little Dubrovnik guide for those of you who are maybe thinking of heading there yourselves.

Why you need to add straight leg jeans to your wardrobe

I've always found shopping for jeans extremely difficult and I'm sure I am not the only one! But, I have finally found a style of jeans that I am super comfortable in, and that I feel fit me and my style to a tea.

Up until the past year, you wouldn't have seen me dead in any jeans that weren't extra high waisted, super stretchy and very skinny, but your girl has massively branched out. Now, wearing anything remotely similar to the Topshop Joni jeans is out of my comfort zone and straight leg jeans are at the heart of it. Don't panic though, I definitely have not abandoned the high waisted style - I don't think I ever could!

Things you need to know before getting your first tattoo

It's been over 6 months since I visited the lovely Gee for my first tattoo, and I've been meaning to write this blog post ever since. It was the best thing I did in 2018, and my tattoo has massively improved my body confidence and honestly I can't see myself ever regretting it. There are some things however that I think are important to think about and to know before you get your first tattoo, so here goes!

Finding An Artist
Make sure you have found an artist whose work you really love and who you feel that you can trust. I found Gee's work on Instagram after she tattooed Suzie, and as soon as her books opened I knew immediately that I wanted her to tattoo me. Her work was dainty and exactly what I was after.

The truth behind the Gucci belt...

If you follow me on Instagram you will have probably seen my Gucci belt featured in near enough every single one of my outfit posts. It's the biggest material purchase I've ever made, and something I thought about for the entire year that I was saving for it - which by the way, I wholeheartedly recommend doing when you are thinking of purchasing something the same cost as a holiday...

The cost per wear for my belt is probably less than £1 now, and I think that shows just how much I love it. It can dress up even the most simple of outfits, I particularly love how chic it looks with a pair of black straight leg jeans and a black turtle-neck tucked in, but I do also love using it as a waist belt to pull in dresses like this gorgeous one from the Sarah Ashcroft In The Style collection, to accentuate my waist. It's honestly just the most versatile accessory, and instantly makes any outfit look more stylish and expensive.

So you want a cartilage piercing...

The trend of having lots of dainty piercings is definitely having a moment, and if you're anything like me, you're probably lusting over all the earring-porn on the Astrid & Miyu Instagram and crying over the fact it costs £55 to get your cartilage pierced at one of their pop-up stores.

I had my cartilage pierced twice whilst I was at uni - I loved the first one so much, and the piercing shop I went to offered 20% student discount and numbed my ear before piercing, so it was a no-brainer to get a second one. I was totally in love with my piercing collection until about a year ago, when I decided to try to change the earring in my cartilage myself, an action which is in the top 5 of my biggest ever regrets.

Falling back in love*

this post contains gifted items*
Clickbait title much? Sorry - couldn't help it. I have genuinely fallen in love again recently, just not with a person, with makeup. If you've been following me since the start of my blog you'll know it started as a beauty blog, and predominantly makeup based, but recently I fell out of love with makeup and in love with fashion. You know when you first get a new boyfriend and neglect your friends a little...? Well, makeup was the friend I neglected, and fashion was the new boyfriend. However, the lovely guys at FalseEyelashes.co.uk sent me over some gorgeous new lashes, and it reignited my love for makeup once more.

How gorgeous is this look I created (if I do say so myself...)?! I knew I wanted to use my Jaclyn Hill x Morphe palette, alongside my Revolution palette for the warmer pink tones. But whenever I do wear makeup, I always reach for pink tones, so I shook it up a little for this look and added a pop of electric blue and canary yellow. It's definitely not your everyday makeup look, but it does make a statement!

What you can expect from me this year

Hello strangers, yes - it is me, no - I didn't fall off the face of the earth. This weekend I finally sat down to brainstorm for my blog after having a very inspiring week. On Wednesday I went to a panel discussion by Em Sheldon (@emshelx), Alex Serruys (@alexincolour), Pixie Turner (@pixienutrition) & Lauren Black (@imlaurenblack), which really inspired me to get back into writing my blog. I love writing, so I don't really know why I have resorted to playing Sims 4 at the weekend and complaining to anyone who will listen about my Sunday Blues, rather than writing for my blog.

Since this is my first post for 2019, I thought that it would be a great idea to outline what you can expect from my blog this year. Believe it or not, my blog started out as a beauty blog, and it has definitely transitioned over the years to be more of a fashion and lifestyle blog that occasionally dips its toes into beauty. Fashion is where my heart is right now, and with so much change needed in the fashion industry, there will be a lot of content on sustainable fashion and rewearing clothes from past seasons - so be prepared to see lots of older clothes in my posts that you won't be able to buy anymore. I will always tag alternatives though if you fancy taking inspo from my outfits.
