MUA Twelfth Night Palette

MUA have done it again with another amazing palette. I am always so surprised when I try out these £4 palettes, because for the price you can't really have high hopes, but they are always so incredible, and the Twelfth Night palette is no exception.

Each shadow is buttery in texture and extremely blendable on the eyelids. Not only this but there is not one shadow in the palette with a bad colour payoff. With a mix of cool and warm tones, and neutrals and colours this is a super versatile palette.

I only have a few negative things to say about this palette, the first is that I found after a while the shadows did crease on my lids, but that was without a primer. The second problem I had was that there was a slight amount of fall down when I applied the shadows, but this is always expected with shimmery colours. All of this was forgotten however when I turned the palette over and saw the cute names. Does anyone else get annoyed when makeup is given boring names?

1. Ice 2. Myth 3. Frost 4. Oudh 5. Coal 6. Fir

7. Hush 8. All Spice 9. Ivy 10. Plum 11. Enchant 12. Star Shine
All Spice is a very similar shadow to MAC Club in the way that it has more of a brown/red tone when it is applied to the lid, but when it catches the light it definitely looks green. It looks lovely with Ivy blended on the inner half of the lid (as shown below). The other shadow which I have absolutely loved using is Oudh which is a very shimmery warm gold, which looks perfect on its own across the lid.

The Nude of All Nudes

I tried so hard not to laugh at the fact my title says 'Nudes', but I failed. Anyway, don't panic we are talking about a Lipstick, not anything else!

I'd been looking for the perfect nude lipstick that was similar to my lip colour for a very long time, and most of the ones I found were either too pale or too pink. However, after hunting the MAC counter for a good half hour I found Patisserie, which ViviannaDoesMakeup is always raving about. Trust me, it's just as perfect as she says it is.

The formula is super hydrating on the lips and it definitely has more of a glossy finish. As for colour, its very sheer, making it a great lipstick for all skin tones. There is a tiny bit of sparkle in there which probably isn't for everyone, but I think it really adds something. It's the perfect nude to wear with a heavy smokey eye, and since the colour is not obvious you don't have to panic about your lips looking patchy half way through the day, and constantly checking them in the mirror.

Please ignore how awful my skin looks there was no decent light in my room.

What's your favourite go-to nude lipstick?

January Beauty Wishlist

1. The Balm Mary Lou-Manizer
Every beauty blogger and their Mum has raved about this highlighter and I am determined to see if it lives up to my expectations. The swatches look beautiful and I do love a good shimmery highlight, especially for evenings. Currently I use the highlight from my Sleek Contour kit, which I do love, but it's not as soft and buttery as I would like.

2. Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade
All the best makeup tutorials that I watch on YouTube involve the Dip Brow Pomade and I love the finish of it. It can be use sparingly to create more natural looking brows which is a look I am more into at the moment, or it can be built up for a fuller and heavier look. Its a diverse product and all the reviews I have read seem positive.

3. Zoeva Rose Golden Luxury Set
Do not even ask me how long this brush set has been on my bookmarks bar. I don't want it just because it is Rose Gold, although that does play a huge part, but it's had great reviews and the brushes look super soft and good for blending. I don't think a girl can ever have enough makeup brushes.

4. Dove True Tone Underarm Dark Mark Eraser
Beauty Blogger/Youtuber Amelia Liana is the reason this is on my wishlist. All girls have the problem of dark underarms after constant shaving and its not a great look, especially in the summer when the vest tops are whacked out. Its quite pricey considering it is from a more high street brand, however Amelia said it worked, and I shall take her word on that.

5. Bold Metals Collection by Real Techniques 202 Angled Liner Brush

How beautiful is the Bold Metals Collection?! All of the Real Techniques brushes are amazing and there isn't one in my collection that I don't use. I have been looking for a new brush for my eyebrows for ages, and this looks like the perfect size to get precise and perfectly defined brows.

6. MAC Lady Danger
Lady Danger was my lipstick for Prom last year, but I borrowed my friends and never got round to buying it. I love the orangey-red tone of the lipstick, and the matte finish makes it much more wearable. Since I got a lot of House of Fraser vouchers for Christmas I intend to go on a massive MAC spending spree and grab this lipstick before Spring!

2014 Favourites

I don't want to bore you all with a ridiculously long post with a million and one favourites from the year because quite frankly 'ain't nobody got time for that'. Also...there really hasn't been that many new discoveries for me this year, well...none that I think are completely worthy of a place in my yearly favourites post anyway. Here are the few that did make the cut!

Beauty

1) MAC Hearts Aflame
Who knows how many times I have used this lipstick since I got it, but its become my go-to 'night out' colour. Its a gorgeous deep berry red that is perfect for the autumn winter season. Unfortunately it was limited edition, however it is ridiculously similar to MAC Diva.

2) MAC Studio Fix Foundation
I picked up this foundation in February last year, after watching Gabby rave about it. It was one hundred percent worth the money and I would really recommend this foundation for anyone who prefers a less dewy finish. Similarly to Hearts Aflame its another thing I reach for on a night out, as it just stays in place and the flashback isn't too bad despite there being some SPF.

3) Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette
I shall not talk about this for too long as I have definitely written a post about it before! Its the perfect palette for anyone who likes neutral tones (and chocolate duh!). It actually does smell of chocolate as its made from cocoa powder which is incredible. Every shadow is super buttery and blendable too!

4) Individual Lashes
I never really thought I would get on with individuals as they just look so fiddly, and being a girl with few eyelashes I normally require heavy strip lashes. The finish of individual lashes is far more natural but they can be built up to look more full on. Despite what you might think, they are much easier to apply than strip lashes are, and although you cannot reuse them, you can get like three looks out of each box. My favourites are the Eyelure ones and the Tanya Burr ones.

Skincare

1) The Body Shop Chamomile Cleansing Balm
A recommendation from Amelia Liana that I am very glad I listened to! When I first looked into this product I thought that a solid cleanser was a bit weird and I wasn't too sure how I would feel about it, however it is insane at taking makeup off and leaves my skin feeling clean but hydrated and moisturised. If you have dry skin I would really recommend this cleanser, and its not too expensive either.

2) Vaseline Spray and Go Moisturiser
Since I've gone to University everything I choose to use is decided upon "how long will this take?". Not that I have a super busy life or anything but number one: I am extremely lazy, and number two: you have to get ready quick enough to have time to pre-drink a substantial amount before you leave the flat. The Spray and Go Moisturiser makes moisturising the quickest thing ever and it takes me about 30 seconds to do both my legs...genius invention!

3) Nivea In Shower Body Moisturiser
Another quick and handy product that I discovered this year was the In Shower Body Moisturiser from Nivea. Its basically a skin conditioner that you apply after you have washed, and it leaves your skin feeling super smooth. I like to apply this mainly to my legs as after shaving they get really dry, but it works wonders!

Lifestyle

1) University
I guess this is a very strange and broad thing to put in my favourites, however I have really been loving University and everything that comes along with it. Since I left home in September I really believe that I have grown up and given myself the kick up the backside that I needed. My confidence has grown and as a result I've met the most incredible people and made some of the best friends I think I will ever have. Despite never having any money, going to University was the best decision I have ever made.

2) Rex
Rex is my sisters dog, but he lives with us in our family home. She got him in March and ever since then our home has just been much happier (except for the days where he still thinks its acceptable to poo inside...). I never really understood the term 'a dog is a mans best friend' until we got Rex, but he literally is like my best friend. Probably a very weird thing to put in my yearly favourites but he's made this year top notch!

Youtubers

1) Lauren Curtis
I've spoken about Lauren's videos before and this year she has quickly become one of my favourite people to watch. She's so down to earth and her makeup is always ridiculously on point. Lauren is definitely my favourite person to watch for inspiration on night out makeup.

2) Vivianna Does Makeup
Ever since I started watching Youtubers Anna has been right up there as one of my favourites. I am incredibly jealous of her eyebrows and her videos are always flawlessly put together, and I feel like I am just watching a friend.
