5 Must-Have MAC Lipsticks for Brown Skin

*this blog post contains affiliate links

When I say I was obsessed with MAC lipsticks back in the day...I was obsessed. Despite only working around 8 hours a week, I used to take myself off to House of Fraser once a month, after payday, to treat myself to a new MAC lipstick. This was back in the day when they were only £12 or so, might I add.

Although my obsession with MAC has somewhat died down, their lipstick are still my most reached for.  I've round up my top 5 MAC lipsticks of choice for those of you with a similar medium brown skin tone to myself. Warning, these are all matte but don't worry they aren't drying!

Whirl - Matte

Whirl is one of MAC's Matte shades, but unlike most matte lipsticks these aren't drying and they feel creamy on the lips. The shade is described as a dirty-rose colour, which I would definitely agree with. This muted-brown toned pink makes for a great everyday shade. MAC also have a matching lip-liner which is supposedly what Kylie Jenner uses...

Taupe - Matte

Possibly my all time favourite MAC lipstick, I've repurchased this one more than once because it is quite literally my most used lipstick ever. This one has more of an orange-y red tone to it compared to the pink base of Whirl, which makes this the perfect nude shade for medium-brown skin. It's one of those lipsticks where it just sort of enhances your natural lip colour.

Antique Velvet - Matte

Ok, a dark brown lipstick probably isn't to everyone's taste, but I think they work so well on brown skin for a more 'edgy' look. Sometimes a bold red just isn't what you want when you want a stand-out lip colour, but this intense brown makes such a statement. I'd definitely recommend wearing a lip liner with this one (and my next three recommendations to be fair) just to make sure you get a crisp finish around the edge of the lips - which yes, I know I have not achieved here.

All Fired Up - Retro Matte

The Retro Matte finish is not generally one of my favourites, but you do get an intense colour payoff and a completely matte finish. All Fired Up is a bright fuschia and one of my favourites for the Spring/Summer. Paired with a neutral eye look, this vibrant colour can look really glam! It also makes my teeth look a lot whiter than they are which as an avid coffee drinker (we're talking at least two a day) is much appreciated.

Top tip: Make sure to use a lip scrub and a balm before you apply this one or you'll find it can cling to all your dry patches.

Lady Danger - Matte

An absolute cult classic, and for a very good reason. Lady Danger is a bright orange-red shade and looks incredible on so many skin tones. In the warmer months, if I'm wearing a red lipstick it'll almost always be this one!

I'd love to know what your favourite MAC Lipstick shades are or if you're now lusting after one of these five. Pop me a comment and let me know!
