Barry M Gelly: Newest Editions

Anyone who has read my blog before will know that the Barry M Gelly polishes are just my all time favourites, even compared to my more high end polishes. Recently they released some new shades and I picked up three, all of which I absolutely adore! The three shades I picked up were Coconut, Elderberry and Damson, and I think my favourite is probably Elderberry.

Elderberry is a very grey toned blue and its one of those shades that can just be worn all year round. As with all the polishes the formula is super thick and glossy and you only need two coats. Please excuse the messy painting, this colour was on my right hand and obviously I am right handed so...its the messy hand.

Damson is a pretty bright cobalt blue that is very different to any other polish that I own. I actually only needed one coat of this really, but two would probably be better if you want it to last as long as possible. Again with this colour I think it would work well in the warmer months and also the colder months as its not too season specific.

Lastly Coconut, which I have to show you on my toes (apologies to people with foot phobias) as I ran out of hands to paint. I had to paint from a broken bottle as the bottle just randomly broke where the lid should be screwed on, and it spilt all over my bed sheets which was not okay. I don't know if it was the heat or something but I wasn't impressed. Anyway, its a very pale off white/cream colour that I adore(d) (before I had to bin it). Again it took two coats but it went very glossy.

There are a few more colours that I really want to try out from the new collection such as Olive which has had very mixed reviews. They're all £3.99 which is such a bargain! Have you got a favourite from the new colours?

Summer Holiday Nail Picks

Go bright or go home!

A lot of my favourite summer polishes are bright coral colours as they just compliment my skin tone amazingly, but there are a few others that aren't in the coral zone so I thought I would show you my 'go to'/'must have' nail colours for a summer holiday.

From Left to Right we have - Models Own Coral Reef, Barry M Gelly Satsuma, LA Colours Hottie, Models Own Banana Split, Barry M Gelly Greenberry and Barry M Bubblegum.

1. Models Own - Coral Reef
I actually only got this a few weeks ago but I know its the colour I want to have on my Toes when I go away. Its a bright coral but not too bright and is definitely more of a red tone than an orange.

2. Barry M Gelly - Satsuma
How could I not include this?! It is one of my favourite all time polishes let alone just for a holiday. Its super bright but more on the red side of orange than the yellow side. If you're a red polish wearer in Winter then this is perfect for you for summer when you want less of a Christmassy feel to your nails.

3. LA Colours - Hottie
Definitely not a polish for everyone! I think it would probably drown out paler skin tones but for a more dark or olive/tanned colour it would love lovely and would definitely compliment a tan.

4. Models Own - Banana Split
This is probably the only 'not so bright' colour, as it is a pastel yellow colour. I love that these polishes really do smell like the fruits they say they do - this one smells like foam bananas yum!

5. Barry M Gelly - Greenberry
Another Gelly- surprise surprise. A gorgeous minty green shade that I can imagine looking gorgeous with a white bikini *dreams of holiday* - okay I can't wait to go away!

6. Barry M - Bubblegum
This is more of an accent nail polish but it can be worn over the top of other colours which is super cool. It is one of those that is a pain to get off, but if you only put it on one nail it doesn't cause too much hassle. I always use this on my ring finger over a pale blue polish.

Barry M Gelly Pretty Pastels

Hallelujah! Bary M have finally released more Gelly polishes, which means that my collection has grown. I now only have 2 more to collect after picking these beautiful pastel colours.

How gorgeous are they?! They are called Huckleberry, Sugar Apple and Rose Hip. My favourite two are Sugar Apple and Rose Hip because they're just such wearable colours and are super cute. Rose Hip comes out as a slightly off white with a very pale pink tone running through it. I have a very similar MUA polish, but the Gelly formula is just my favourite so I had to buy it anyway.

The above picture shows what Rose Hip looks like on. The super pale pastel colour is probably not to everyone's taste, but I am really fond of it. Due to my skin tone I can't wear plain white nails as it just looks ridiculously like Tippex, but these pale colours allow me to still rock the nearly white look.

This is Sugar Apple. Please excuse my messy painting I only had 5 minutes to put the two coats on! I have not yet swatched or tried Huckleberry but I have no doubts it will be just as lovely as these two.

They retail for £3.99 but I believe they are on 2 for £6 in Superdrug at the moment - or at least they were when I bought them last week!

Barry M Gelly Collection

Hey readers!

I realise I haven't posted anything about nails and nail polish in a very long time, so I thought I would share with you my collection of Barry M Gelly polishes.

These are my ultimate favourite nail varnish formulas at the moment because they're so thick and shiny. I have now got 6 more to get till I have completed the whole set - and I aim to have this done by Christmas (if my bank balance allows me to haha).

I have to say, considering these are only £3.99 each - they stay on so well and don't chip easily. For me this is a must as my job involves opening boxes and stuff so my nails often get ruined. I love that they are so shiny, and therefore don't necessarily require a top coat. When I use these polishes to do my nails if I'm going out, I often will apply a top coat. But if I'm simply doing them before bed I won't bother because it adds to the drying time - and no one wants "sheet nails". I think I may have to invest in a Seche Vite Top Coat.

The only downside that I can think of is that they can take a while to dry if you apply two coats. However, if you apply thin coats then they will dry a lot quicker, or you could even invest in some Elegant Touch Rapid Dry Spray which I absolutely love as it makes your nails touch-dry in seconds.

Literally guys, go out and buy these polishes!!

Nails of The Week

Last week I was wearing Barry M Gelly - Grapefruit. I feel there is a grapefruit theme running on my blog, I promise it was unintentional! This colour is such a beautiful pinky-coral and I have this weird thing for coral at the moment so I had to put this on my nails for the sunny weather. I did two coats and then applied a top coat just to ensure it really didn't chip as I didn't have time to redo my nails last week. Luckily they didn't chip, I find the Gelly nail polishes last well. At £3.99 I can't really fault this nail polish, I'm a sucker for the Barry M makeup stand in Superdrug...sorry bank balance!
