Barry M Gelly: Newest Editions

Anyone who has read my blog before will know that the Barry M Gelly polishes are just my all time favourites, even compared to my more high end polishes. Recently they released some new shades and I picked up three, all of which I absolutely adore! The three shades I picked up were Coconut, Elderberry and Damson, and I think my favourite is probably Elderberry.

Elderberry is a very grey toned blue and its one of those shades that can just be worn all year round. As with all the polishes the formula is super thick and glossy and you only need two coats. Please excuse the messy painting, this colour was on my right hand and obviously I am right handed so...its the messy hand.

Damson is a pretty bright cobalt blue that is very different to any other polish that I own. I actually only needed one coat of this really, but two would probably be better if you want it to last as long as possible. Again with this colour I think it would work well in the warmer months and also the colder months as its not too season specific.

Lastly Coconut, which I have to show you on my toes (apologies to people with foot phobias) as I ran out of hands to paint. I had to paint from a broken bottle as the bottle just randomly broke where the lid should be screwed on, and it spilt all over my bed sheets which was not okay. I don't know if it was the heat or something but I wasn't impressed. Anyway, its a very pale off white/cream colour that I adore(d) (before I had to bin it). Again it took two coats but it went very glossy.

There are a few more colours that I really want to try out from the new collection such as Olive which has had very mixed reviews. They're all £3.99 which is such a bargain! Have you got a favourite from the new colours?

August Wish List

How amazing do these look?! I just love liquid lipsticks and they still aren't a very huge trend in the beauty industry, so I am super excited to try these. Every single colour looks so gorgeous and I kind of want to try the purple, even though its the most out there colour of them all.

I actually had S&G on my Duty Free Wishlist but it was sold out when I passed through Gatwick so its still on this months wishlist! I have not heard one bad thing about this gorgeous highlighter and I don't really have a large selection of highlighters (in fact I only have 2) so it would be lovely to add this to my collection.

To be honest, Whirl is not too far off my natural lip colour, its just a tiny bit darker and has a very slight mauve tint to it. Of course this is on my wishlist because of Kylie Jenner, I just think she pulls off the 90's nude so well and I really want to grab this lip pencil, when its not sold out!

I'm pretty sure that this has been on my monthly wishlist, mentally, every single month. I swatch all the colours every time I go into Boots and the shadows just feel so buttery and they're really pigmented. The selection is so vast and theres a huge choice of day colours as well as night time colours.

I always play it safe with my brow products and I haven't tried anything new on my brows for over a year. The Sleek Brow Kit has always been my "go to" product, as well as my MUA Eyeshadow in Shade 19. The Brow Archery duo looks like such a nifty product that would for sure speed up my brow routine. I've always wanted to try a felt-tip eyebrow product as well, so this is definitely needed in my makeup collection.

What's on your wishlist this month?

FOTD: Summer Fresh Makeup

The weather is super hot today so I wanted to keep my makeup fairly minimal, and reduce the risk of my makeup melting down my face as soon as I step out the door. I went for this look which was super quick and very natural looking.

I used my Bourjour Happy Light Mattifying Primer just to keep the shine down throughout the day, and then put my Rimmel Match Perfection foundation over the top in a very light coverage. Of course I had to use my trusty 2True Pressed Powder to again minimise shine and just set my makeup for the whole day. Since its sunny I chose to use a very sparkly highlighter, and the winner was the highlight from my Sleek Contour Kit. For blush I didn't want to use a very bright colour so went with my Sleek Californ-IA bush palette which has 3 cream blushes. I used the shade OC which is super subtle on my skin but just makes my makeup look more natural. Of course the trusty Maybelline The Rocket was used on my lashes, and I don't know why but it seemed to give extra volume today which I loved! My all time favourite Sleek Brow Kit in Extra Dark was also used on my brows. I just find the powder lasts all day on my brows if I set them, which I did with some (Un)Clear Mascara from Collection.  Lastly to finish I used my Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Rendezvous.

What are your favourite products to use in the heat?

Summer Hair Update

The past few weeks I have really been wanting a change and decided to change up my hair today. Since I have a super long summer ahead of me and no longer have school rules to think about, I decided to go crazy!

I have had this exact image bookmarked on my laptop for literally a year and I just think its so beautiful, so I tried to recreate it with the help of my friends. Obviously I knew it wouldn't come out exactly like this because there's no way my hair would get to such a pale lilac colour.

On Tuesday I dyed my hair brown over my red, which didn't exactly work and there is still very much a red tint to my hair which is so annoying but I didn't want to damage it any further by re dying it.

Anyway, today I had to bleach the ends, and I used the Jerome Russell Bblonde Maximum Lift Blonding Kit which was only £4.99 I believe. It worked fairly well but since my hair is red the colour it bleached to was very orange toned. The bleach was left on for 90 minutes, and my hair did feel slightly brittle after using it.

To get the colours on the bottom I used the La Riche Directions hair dye in Lavender and Neon Blue. These dyes were ridiculously cheap and really didn't make my hair feel too damaged which I liked. They are semi-permanent so I will have to go over them soon but I love how they turned out.

Doesn't quite look like my hairspiration picture but I still bloody love it and it looks quite Katy Perry-esque.
Have you guys done anything crazy to your hair for summer?

Summer: The 5 Product Face

Recently I have been loving going for a slightly more minimalistic and natural makeup look, which is strange for me as usually I am all for thick winged liner and a bold lip. The look I have been going for is achieved in only 5 products, contain your excitement!

1. Bourjous Healthy Mix Foundation

2. 2True Pressed Powder

3. MAC Bronze Eyeshadow

4. Sleek Eyebrow Kit in Extra Dark

5. Maybelline The Rocket Mascara

And that is all! Its such a super quick and easy look and for summer I think its really great to minimise the number of products you are putting on your face so that your skin can breathe in the hot weather. This look would also be super cute for the night time when you are on holiday!

Summer Holiday Nail Picks

Go bright or go home!

A lot of my favourite summer polishes are bright coral colours as they just compliment my skin tone amazingly, but there are a few others that aren't in the coral zone so I thought I would show you my 'go to'/'must have' nail colours for a summer holiday.

From Left to Right we have - Models Own Coral Reef, Barry M Gelly Satsuma, LA Colours Hottie, Models Own Banana Split, Barry M Gelly Greenberry and Barry M Bubblegum.

1. Models Own - Coral Reef
I actually only got this a few weeks ago but I know its the colour I want to have on my Toes when I go away. Its a bright coral but not too bright and is definitely more of a red tone than an orange.

2. Barry M Gelly - Satsuma
How could I not include this?! It is one of my favourite all time polishes let alone just for a holiday. Its super bright but more on the red side of orange than the yellow side. If you're a red polish wearer in Winter then this is perfect for you for summer when you want less of a Christmassy feel to your nails.

3. LA Colours - Hottie
Definitely not a polish for everyone! I think it would probably drown out paler skin tones but for a more dark or olive/tanned colour it would love lovely and would definitely compliment a tan.

4. Models Own - Banana Split
This is probably the only 'not so bright' colour, as it is a pastel yellow colour. I love that these polishes really do smell like the fruits they say they do - this one smells like foam bananas yum!

5. Barry M Gelly - Greenberry
Another Gelly- surprise surprise. A gorgeous minty green shade that I can imagine looking gorgeous with a white bikini *dreams of holiday* - okay I can't wait to go away!

6. Barry M - Bubblegum
This is more of an accent nail polish but it can be worn over the top of other colours which is super cool. It is one of those that is a pain to get off, but if you only put it on one nail it doesn't cause too much hassle. I always use this on my ring finger over a pale blue polish.

It's A Neon Summer!

I absolutely love how fluorescent colours have come back in recently! I created this little outfit which I think is just perfect for an evening out or evening a day out with shopping with friends.
I've had my eye on these Joni jeans from Topshop for so long but as a curvier girl with the least flat stomach ever, they really don't look that great on me - one day!
This satchel is my all time favourite item from June. Unfortunately I cannot afford a Cambridge Satchel as at £115 with only a weekend job, that's over half my monthly wages. I shall just have to continue to look at it and admire.
These shoes are from Topshop - again so beautiful but I don't think I can pull them off as I'm fairly tall as it is and these would make me well over 6ft. I can imagine them being worn on an evening stroll along the seafront in Spain or something. I'm really getting into the summer mood!
On the top right is just a plain white spaghetti strap Cami which I am in love with! River Island have an amazing variety of these loose fitted Cami's for only £10 - I'm in desperate need of a bright coloured one so I may be taking a trip down to River Island. The white one in this picture isn't from River Island, I believe it was Forever 21 - but its very similar!
At the bottom I put a picture of an infinity bracelet that I bought of eBay back in February. My boyfriend and I both have one and they've joined our ever growing bracelet arm. I literally paid 99p for them and they're just so cute - and as they're in black they go with every outfit, so there's no need to take them off!

Lets hope we get the weather to wear all these summery clothes this year!
